WELLNESS RITUALS · INDONESIA (BALI)

A person in a green wrap is meditating with their hands pressed together in front of their face sitting in a water fountain with flowing water. The background includes ancient stone carvings and statues of snakes.
Melukat &

Boreh Ritual

Water temple bells in the early morning at Tirta Empul. A meditation walk through rice terraces as the mist lifts off the valley. A herbal body ritual prepared from plants grown in the garden outside. Bali does not separate the sacred from the everyday. Neither does this journey.

THE ESSENCE

Why Bali

Bali has a concept at the center of its culture — Tri Hita Karana — the three causes of wellbeing: harmony with God, with people, and with nature. It is not a philosophy that lives in temples alone. It lives in the offering placed at a doorstep each morning, in the incense lit before a meal is served, in the way a Balinese healer approaches the body as something that belongs to the land it stands on.

Eraya's Bali itinerary is built around this. A melukat purification ceremony at a water temple, performed at dawn before the tourists arrive and the ritual is still exactly what it has always been. A rice terrace meditation walk through the Tegalalang valley as the light comes in sideways through the palms. A Balinese boreh herbal body treatment prepared from turmeric, ginger and rice, the same recipe Balinese women have used for centuries before a ceremony. You do not need to understand all of it. Bali will do what it does regardless.
